Top 15 Tips for Raising ADHD Children
From Joseph A. Sandford, Ph.D.

1.  Keep in mind that you are the parent - not the child.
2.  Maintain self-control - avoid overreacting.
3.  Keep a daily routine and a regular schedule as much as possible.
4.  Train and reinforce structure and organization.
5.  Post the House Rules. All household members participate in making them.
6.  Help your child build friendships one person at a time.
7.  Actions speak louder than words. Act, don't yack.
8.  Yelling and screaming are not communication.
9.  Nothing works forever and no one thing works for everybody.
10. Use both negative and positive reinforcement.
11. Say what you mean and mean what you say.
12. Giving in to temper tantrums and manipulations leads to more of the same. Stay your ground.
13. Make eye contact when communicating.
14. Immediate consequences work best.
15. Spend positive, fun, loving time with your child.
