SoundSmart
Runtime
Error When Clicking on the Icon
If you get a Runtime Error when you click on the icon
from the desktop, then you need to install an updated
DirectX sound card driver or new sound card.
Before you download new
drivers, you can check the status of your currently
installed drivers using the DirectX Diagnostic Tool. To do
this:
-
From Windows 98 or higher: Click on
Start,
then Programs, then
Accessories, then
System
Tools, then
System
Information, then
Tools, and finally
DirectX
Diagnostic
Tool.
-
from Windows 95: Click on
Start, then
Programs, and then
Windows
Explorer. Then
double-click on Program
Files, then
DirectX,
then Setup, and finally
DxDiag.
-
When the Diagnostic Tool opens, click on the
System tab to see which version of DirectX is loaded
on the computer. It should be version 7.0 or higher to
run the SmartDriver and SmartDriver programs.
-
Click on the
Display tab and turn the
Test DirectDraw and
Test Direct3D tools.
-
Click on the
Sound tab and run the
Test DirectSound tool.
Any problems on these tests
will be listed in the white box at the bottom of the
window. If there are any problems listed, you will need to
download new drivers to run the programs properly.
It is best to contact the
manufacturer of your computer and/or soundcard to find the
most up to date driver.
